There was a little boy and his sister visiting their grandparents on their farm. The grandfather gave the boy a slingshot to go and play with in the woods. The boy kept on practicing in the woods; but could never hit the target he shot at. He got a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner... As he was walking back he saw his grandmother's pet duck. On impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed the duck. He was shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the duck in a wood pile; only to see his sister was watching! Sally which is the sister name, had seen the whole crime scene, although she saw he said nothing. After lunch the next day the grandmother said "Sally, let's wash the dishes" Sally Replied. " Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen". She then whispered to her brother "remember the duck ?". Johnny then did the dishes. Later that day their grandfather ask if the children wanted to go fishing with him, "I am sorry I need Sally to help me make supper" the Grandmother replied. Sally just smiled and said, "that is alright because Johnny told me that he wanted to help". She whispered again, "remember the duck ?". So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't take it any longer. He came to his Grandmother and confessed that he has killed her pet duck. His Grandmother knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you". Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done...? And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, ext...) Whatever it is, you need to know: God was standing at the window and he saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life...
He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He is just wondering how long you are going to let the devil make a slave out of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives, but forgets too. It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.
